What determines the MOQ for different activewear products?

2026-10-12

MOQ mainly depends on the product type, customization level, fabric requirements, color development and production process. Ready-to-ship styles with branding can generally start from smaller quantities, while cut-and-sew custom styles are typically around 150–200 pieces per style/color. Custom seamless colors are often around 600 pieces per color, while fully customized fabrics may require approximately 1,200 pieces or more, depending on the fabric and mill requirements.

The MOQ is not determined by sewing capacity alone. Custom orders may involve minimum quantities for yarn production, fabric knitting, dyeing, cutting efficiency, machine setup, trims, labels and packaging. For example, developing a new fabric color may require a minimum dyeing quantity even when the garment order itself is relatively small.

BiuBiuYoga explains the factors behind the MOQ before production so you can understand where the quantity requirement comes from. Where appropriate, we can also explore alternatives such as stock fabrics, existing colors or a different customization level to help reduce the initial order quantity.
